Sync Captions

Use Sync captions to keep the main caption synchronized across the accounts selected in a post.

When synchronization is enabled, editing a caption updates the captions for the other selected accounts. Turn it off when you want different wording for each account.

Enable caption synchronization

  1. Open Create Post.

  2. Select the social accounts you want to publish to.

  3. Select Sync captions in the post editor’s header.

  4. Write or edit your caption.

The control shows Caption sync is on while synchronization is enabled.

Each platform’s character limits and publishing requirements still apply.

If your captions are already different

Enabling synchronization can replace the existing captions with the text from one selected account.

dopost shows a confirmation identifying the account whose caption will be used.

  • Select Sync captions to replace the other captions and keep them synchronized.

  • Select Keep separate to preserve the different captions.

Write different captions for each account

  1. Select Caption sync is on to turn synchronization off.

  2. Edit each account’s caption separately.

Turning synchronization off keeps the current text. It does not restore captions that were previously replaced.

Set your default preference

  1. Open Settings → Preferences.

  2. Find Sync captions across accounts.

  3. Enable or disable the preference.

This sets the default for new posts. You can still change synchronization within an individual post.

When opening existing content with different captions, dopost keeps those captions separate rather than automatically replacing them.

Sync captions or copy once?

  • Sync captions: keeps captions linked as you continue editing.

  • Copy to all accounts: copies the caption once; later edits remain separate unless synchronization is enabled.

Caption synchronization applies to the main caption. Media, first comments, thread replies and other platform settings are configured separately.

Having trouble?

  • An edit changed several captions: turn synchronization off before making account-specific changes.

  • An existing post opens with synchronization off: its captions may differ, so dopost preserves them.

  • The same caption fails validation on one platform: shorten the shared text or turn synchronization off and adapt that account’s caption.
